Are you looking for a holiday to relax in a most beautiful natural setting? Perhaps in the lovely hills above Florence, in an environment filled with Italian culture? Do you dream of a hotel rich in comfort and immersed in history that also offers a great traditional kitchen? You can find all this at Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort, located at Vicchio di Mugello, a town immersed in the Tuscan countryside not far from Florence. Reserve your vacation moment at Villa Campstri and discover for yourself our beautiful sylvan and cultural atmosphere.
Vicchio di Mugello is a small place, with a population of little more than 8,000, not very impressive for a city dweller. But if you think that two of Italy’s most important Renaissance artists – the great Giotto and Beato Angelico - were born here in Vicchio (two its main streets are named after them), it takes on a more important aspect. It is even said that Cimabue discovered Giotto’s greatness here … as the young shepherd boy sketched the sheep he was guarding.
The museum of sacred art here is named after Beato Angelico, and on a walk not far from the center, in the suburb of Vespignana, along a country road, you’ll come upon Casa Giotto, the birthplace of the artist that has also become an appropriate museum dedicated to his life. Not far away is the bridge Ragnaia, where Cimabue allegedly spotted Giotto drawing his sheep on a rock and took him from there to his workshop.
In addition to these nearby attractions, Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort offers you more: walks through the park of the Villa, massages with our renowned olive oil, and unforgettable meals with our chef Jerry in the most pleasant Olivaia Restaurant, where you can relish with your eyes, your taste and your heart the special menu with olive oil specialties (discover more on our Facebook page!). All the delights of Villa Campestri can combine with walks through the old town of Vicchio where even today you can smell the fragrance of art and culture.
Vicchio’s internet site can introduce you to the history of this Tuscan village and its famous inhabitants and features photos of the surroundings where you might want to visit and learn more. If you’re here during the last days of summer, you can visit the Fair of the Four Hot A’s: Artigianato (Crafts), Art, Antiques and Agriculture.
It’s a quick jump from Villa Campestri to the center of Vicchio. Back at Villa Campestri you can enjoy the relaxation of our lovely shaded swimming pool in the calm and simplicity of sylvan bliss that surrounds you.
We’ve already told you about the beauties of the Mugello and also of the greatness of the small crafts places that sprout in the area … don’t miss the opportunity to come and see for yourselves.
