You cannot say you were on holiday in Tuscany without sampling the extra-virgin olive oil and the wine produced here. In particular, Mugello is a land rich in the production of fine extra-virgin olive oil, starting with our “L’olio di Cosimo” in Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort, but also with quality wines such as Chianti Rufina.A few kilometers from Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort, in fact, there is one of the most important wine production area in Tuscany: the Chianti Rufina. This is a DOCG wine whose production takes its name from the town of Rufina, where it was born, then extends to the municipalities adjacent to the DOC Pomino.
Chianti Rufina is characterized by a bright ruby red color, an intense aroma and a harmonious taste. This wine comes only from selected grapes such as Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano Toscano and Malvasia del Chianti. Chianti Rufina can also obtain the name of “Reserve” if aged for at least two years, six months in cask and three in bottle.
To emphasize the importance of these productions “La Strada del Vino Chianti Rufina and Pomino” is born, a trail for exploring the many wonders of this part of the territory of the Mugello accompanied by tastings in the major wineries.
Among the oldest and most famous wine cellars is the Castle of Nipozzano: here the guests of Villa Campestri will attend a special wine tasting tour.
