Where to eat in the Mugello Valley in Tuscany
Traveling to Tuscany almost always involves several gastronomic adventures as it very well should. Whatever the reason for making the Mugello valley your ‘home away from home‘ as a vacation destination, of course wonderful cuisine should be top on your list. The famous potato tortelli with homemade ragu and much more. Since we are food obsessed here at Villa Campestri olive oil resort, we wanted to share our top spots for a nice meal.
1. L’Olivaia {Villa Campestri}
Our in-house restraurant at Villa Campestri is a foodie’s dream, a place where our talented chef uses local ingredients with a fresh vision creating delicious meals that will keep you drooling for days. Our olive-oil menu features delights such as the famous tortelli di patate del mugello (pasta filled with potato covered in a ragu sauce) and olive-oil ice cream. We also offer special packages including dinner or lunch with wine to match that will entice any gourmet lover.
2. Tirabaralla osteria
{Borgo San Lorenzo – Viale IV Novembre, 16/20, 50032 Borgo San Lorenzo, 10 km away from Villa Campestri}. This is a rustic osteria serving up traditional dishes from the local area and is one of our favorites for dinner in the area. Try their cured meats & cheeses and wonderful pasta with traditional ragu sauce.
3. Ristorante “Valeri”
{Via Traversi, 50032 Luco Tuscany – 16 km away from Villa Campestri olive oil resort}. Famous for their potato tortelli (originating from the Mugello Valley}, they also have fantastic pizza and semifreddo desserts. Well worth a visit.
4. Trattoria Bibo
{Località Traversa (Passo della Futa), 50033 Firenzuola Tuscany – 36 km away}. A really goos restaurant in the Firenzuola area of the Mugello valley. We go there for their tasty antipasti and for the stupendous bistecca alla fiorentina – Florentine steak. Also keep an eye out for their great wine list.
5. Limonaia di Villa Senni
{ Via Senni San Carlo – 50038 Scarperia e San Piero – a 13 km away from Villa Campestri olive oil resort}. Refined venue with wonderful park and swimming pool surrounded by greenery. Try the exquisite steak and handmade potato tortelli.
