Tuscany is known around the world for the excellent quality of local products, perfectly over a number of years – and sometimes even centuries, by local artisans. We are currently on the hunt for holiday gifts for our own family, and wanted to share a few of our favorite locally-made goods to the italophile in you all. 1. Le Porte Del Chianti, wood furnishings – available on amazon
Recently online giant Amazon has opened a special ‘made in Italy’ shop offering its users the chance to buy quality goods by local artisans. One of our favorites is the line by ‘Le Porte del Chianti’ a family-run company of carpenters which works with many types of antique wood using their expert craftsmanship to produce quality fixtures and furnishings. They make doors using reclaimed timber planks or aged wine vats from local vineyards; tables, bookshelves and kitchen fittings from chestnut barrels. Falciani can also adapt to the specific requirements of the customer. Prices range from around 100 euros to a little over a thousand.
2. Olive Oil + Tasting Kit, From Our Shop
As an Olive Oil Resort, we pride ourselves in each year’s harvest and are delighted when guests take home some of our personal ‘green gold’ that we make every November. 3. Angela Caputi Jewelry, An Artisan Who Has Been Displayed In Pitti Palace
Angela Caputi doesn’t just make beautiful jewelry, she makes art. Her standout pieces are well-known in the Florence circuit and we think they would make a wonderful present for anyone who appreciates a bold statement. From her website “The workshop of Angela Caputi Giuggiù”, is situated near the Ponte Vecchio, in the old town of Florence, in a historical building known as “Palazzetto Mediceo”. Here, the Florentine Artist designs her creations with inspiration from American films of the 1940’s as well as from a long-standing passion for fashion.
Angela Caputi’s worldwide recognition has increased thanks to her unique and inimitable bijoux. Her jewelry has caught the attention of both Haute Couture stylists and Museums. Her creations were displayed for example by the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York, at Museo degli Argenti and Galleria del Costume in Florence.
