Mother's Day 2019 at Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort

Mother’s Day is that sweet anniversary that lets your mom know how important it is to us. The goal is to surprise her and communicate our love to her. Discover with us what to give for 2019 Mother’s Day!

The origins of Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a civil anniversary celebrated in honor of the mother, the motherhood and the social influence of mothers.

The origins of Mother’s Day can be traced back to the ancient Greeks, but the modern tradition owes its origin to two American women, Julia Ward Howe and Anna Jarvis who promoted various initiatives for such a celebration to be recognized nationally in the United States.

In 1914 President Wilson proclaimed the second Sunday of May a national holiday for Mother’s Day.

Today in many countries this feast is celebrated on different dates, but in almost all of Europe, the United States and Australia is celebrated on the second Sunday of May.

How to celebrate Mother’s Day in Italy

Even in Italy, as in the United States, Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May.

The symbols of this feast are red, heart and roses, which more than any other flower represents love and beauty and can bear witness to the affection and gratitude of children.

On this day the children offer to help their mother with housework and give her flowers or chocolates and greeting cards with affectionate messages.

Very often, greeting cards are made in schools, where for the occasion almost all the teachers in Italy organize small workshops to help children create special gifts for their mothers.

2019 Mother’s Day: here’s what to give

In addition to greeting cards, even flowers, chocolates and perfumes are a classic gift for Mother’s Day.

If you want to bet on something more original here is what to give for Mother’s Day 2019:

  • Personalized book;
  • Family photo album;
  • Personalized jewel;
  • Mug with name;
  • Personalized apron.

But since we all know, mom is always mom, the best way to celebrate her and let her know how important it is for us is to make her live a special day.

Even better than giving her an object, with the risk of ending up among the many unused things, it is surely to give her mother an experience to live, perhaps together.

Mother’s Day is the right opportunity to take a break from everyday life and surprise her by offering her a stay to spend together, perhaps in a place where you can find yourself, take long walks or relax with your favorite book.

Here then is that Tuscany is definitely the ideal destination, with its enveloping nature and numerous cities of art. For example, Mugello is just a few kilometers from Florence but offers its guests all the peace and relaxation of the Tuscan countryside.

Offering all mothers best wishes, we are waiting for you at Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort!
