Parks in Florence to visit in spring
The long-awaited spring has finally arrived and the desire to get out of our homes to enjoy the fresh air and see the flowers begin to bloom!
Florence is a green city that has many parks to visit in spring!
Boboli, a Renaissance garden
If you want to see an Italian formal garden, one of the best preserved in Italy, Boboli is what you are looking for! This garden is 45,000 m² and is located in the heart of Florence, within the city walls and was for years the private garden of the families who lived in Palazzo Pitti, from the Medici to the Savoy.
The garden is a real open-air museum, in fact it is protected by the State and you pay an entrance ticket, and it features not only tree geometries but also statues, caves, monumental tanks, ancient and modern statues and an incredible botanical collection.
We recommend that you visit the Boboli Gardens if you are interested in art and culture. The botanical collections leaves amazed, even the less experienced visitors, for colors and shapes. Just think that the citrus collection dates back to the world famous Medici family!
Before planning a visit, it is important to know that the garden is not flat and therefore not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.
With the Boboli garden ticket you can also access the Villa Bardini garden.
Villa Bardini, an English garden
Villa Bardini garden is also considered an open-air museum.
This park has a long history and expresses multiple artistic styles: from the beautiful nineteenth-century English garden to the Baroque staircase.
Less visited than Boboli but just as beautiful, it was chosen by the Dolce and Gabbana stylists as the location of their fashion show in September 2020, creating amazement and curiosity all over the world.
From the Bardini garden, precisely from the Belvedere, in spring and summer, you can drink something refreshing in the room under the loggia and enjoy the most spectacular view of Florence!
Torrigiani Garden, between suggestions and symbolism
The Torrigiani Garden is located entirely within the Arnolfian walls of Florence and is still owned by the Torrigiani family.
This park is in English style but full of symbols and suggestions both to the culture of Freemasonry and to the world of Arcadia. It is possible to visit the park by making an appointment.
Cascine, a public park
Cascine park is the largest free park in Florence, 160 hectares of park that houses two racecourses, the market, the Faculty of Agriculture and, every day, children, runners, sports and many activities.
It was born as a Medici hunting reserve and was then embellished with new buildings by the next ruling family, the Lorena, until it became a public park in the Nineteenth Century.
Cascine park is also perfect for families: there is plenty of parking, it is all flat and there are often activities for children.
It is important to remember that a large market takes place on Tuesdays.
