Perfect Italian Summer Delight: Recipe For Granita Di Caffe
As the weather gets hotter, we always have a craving for something fresh. While gelato is a delight, there are also many Italian delights that you might never have heard of. While this specific treat is native to Sicily, we enjoy a refreshing coffee granita by the pool quite often these days, plus its made from high-quality Italian espresso which means you can’t go wrong with flavor. 
Ingredients for Granita di Caffe/ Coffee Granite
1⁄4 cup sugar
1⁄3 – 1/2 cup strong brewed espresso (buy local)
Freshly whipped cream, cacao or espresso beans for garnish.
Directions:
Heat sugar and a cup of water in a pot that is at least 2-3 quarts, once the sugar is absorbed, you can add the coffee, at this point let it cool. Alternatively you can sweeten the coffee while its hot. Pour into ice-cube trays and stir, and let freeze overnight. Whip your own cream to soft peaks with vanilla-flavored sugar (don’t overbeat). Add your coffee ice-cubes to an electric blender or ice crusher and distribute evenly in glasses, at this point you can also add a bit of brandy or baileys if you want a stronger treat. Top with whipped cream and serve immediately. Top with Mint (optional)
