‘From Kandinsky to Pollock’ Set to open up on the 19th is the brand new Palazzo Strozzi exhibition showcasing the works of artistic greats from the Guggenheim collection at Palazzo Strozzi, this major exhibition will bring to Florence over one hundred masterpieces of European and American art from the 1920s to the 1960s, in a narrative that reconstructs the relationship and the ties between the two sides of the Atlantic through the lives of two leading American collectors, Peggy and Solomon Guggenheim.
we also encourage you to go a bit more off the beaten path towards Prato, where the Palazzo Pretorio will showcase an Etruscan exhibit titled ‘The Shadow of the Etruscans: Traces of a Culture in Hills and Valleys,’ from March 19th until June 30th. The show will be focusing on the Etruscan populations that settled to the north of the Arno river, along the Florence-Prato-Pistoia route and in the Mugello/Val di Sieve and Montalbano.
Easter in Tuscany
For those coming to enjoy the long weekend that Easter provides, we highly recommend a morning trip to Florence to see the majestic Scoppio del Carro “explosion of the cart”, an event which dates back 300 years. Imagine a historical cart being driven by two white oxen in the city center, which is rigged with explosives to be later set off by a dove-shaped rocket. The fun happens around 11am in piazza del duomo so our advice is to get there at least an hour before to grab a prime spot. Street Food in Castelfiorentino
In its third edition, is a special Italian street food fair also featuring craft beer in Castelfiorentino, about an hour and twenty minutes from the Villa Campestri olive oil resort. The fun runs from March 18-20th, in the main piazza gramsci, you can get all of the latest info here.
In April, you can enjoy a tortello food festival on the 2nd and 3rd in Scarperia which is also concurrent with a fried food fair going on during the same time.
