The true story of the Mugello atutodrome begins in 1920 with the first Mugello Road Circuit, a ring of about 65 kilometers long that crossed the steps of Giogo and Futa, passing through the streets of great difficulty but also of great charm .
There were many great riders born in Mugello, among them the most beloved were Emilio Materassi from Borgo San Lorenzo whose career was tragically interrupted in Monza and Count Gastone Brilli-Peri.
Car races had a great importance in the area because represented an attempt to bring the attention of the great public over the Mugello, well-known seismic zone that on June 29, 1919 had suffered a disastrous magnitude 6.2 earthquake with a budget of hundreds of deaths and at least four hundred wounded.

The decade of the economic crisis and the Second World War helped to bring down the fame of the Mugello Road Circuit which reborn only in 1955.

That was how in 1974 the Mugello Autodrome was inaugurated, where every year the Mugello GP is running.
