Mugello restaurants: a complete guide with villa campestri olive oil resort
Ristorante tipico toscano L’Olivaia

The restaurants of Mugello are one of the main attractions for tourists and visitors to the various villages that this area located north of Florence offers.

A guide to the most popular restaurants in the Mugello valley

Below is a guide to the most popular restaurants in the Mugello valley.

From the wide range of facilities in the area, 4 places have been carefully selected, which deserve to be visited at least once in a lifetime.

Let’s start with the Fattoria Il Palagio, a historic villa from the Enlightenment period, located in the heart of Mugello, precisely in Scarperia di San Piero.

The fame of this place is linked to the typical cuisine of Mugello. In fact, the standard menu is centered on the processing of fresh handmade pasta.

We remember the famous potato tortelli, pappardelle and tagliolini. For lovers of meat with a full-bodied quality and dense flavor, there is no shortage of cooking the traditional Florentine steak.

You can also taste the characteristic products of the various seasons. In addition, the restaurant offers an excellent selection of wines, among the most famous of Tuscany and of national and international vines.

The ancient gateway to the east

The bucolic landscape of Mugello also allows you to stop by the ancient gate of Levante, a restaurant located in Vicchio.

This place as well as a restaurant is also an overnight stop. In fact, the area used as an “inn” has 8 rooms on two floors, 4 of which overlook the central Piazza Vittorio Veneto; while the others offer the view of the Montelleri hill and the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines.

The main dish of the kitchen is the beef tartare embellished with aged Sovrano cheese.

In addition, you can taste the spelled cake stuffed with Tuscan sausage smoked with beech wood and with saffron-flavored sheep robiolina.

The main traditional dishes are tortelli, cannelloni with seafood sauce and the so-called “bottoni” of fresh pasta, made with coffee, bardiccio and blackberry from Romagna.

Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort and La colombaia

In Vicchio you can also taste the cuisine of La colombaia. It is a family-run farm that takes care of the kitchen of its restaurant with its own agricultural and livestock products.

Staying in this restaurant means taking a journey through time to discover the ancient Tuscan flavors, which are taken up in their originality and embellished with zero-kilometer raw materials.

If, on the other hand, you want an excellent lunch in a historic Renaissance Villa, our L’Olivaia restaurant at Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort awaits you in the Mugello valley. We are in Vicchio, in the green scenery of the immense expanse of olive groves, a characteristic element of our cuisine.

In fact, in our dishes, it represents the emblem of the fusion of innovation and tradition. Traditional dishes, finished with a touch of the fine local oil, are revisited in the gourmet version.
