Don Milani: at Villa Campestri presentation of the book about the founder of the School of Barbiana and typical Mugello dinner

Among the historical figures associated with the Mugello, stands the figure of Don Lorenzo Milani, the parson who in 50 years created the School of Barbiana, an experience that animated the debate on the education of children. Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort has decided to dedicate one of its events to Don Lorenzo Milani: the presentation of the book “Lorenzo Milani: the years of privilege” written by Fabrizio Borghini, which will be held Saturday, May 14 from 18:30 .

Few people know that Lorenzo Milani, who was born in a wealthy Florentine family, until the age of 20 years dreamed of being a painter, and only then decided to enter the seminary, developing a conversion born of the discomfort he felt for the privileges of the wealthy middle class to which he belonged.

The book written by Fabrizio Borghini is mostly about the first 20 years of life of Don Milani. During the presentation, the author will tell the new interviews done to reconstruct the period of life that Don Milani later called “spent in the darkness of the error” . To accompany the author will be reading passages from the book.

After the presentation, at 19.30, the event will move into the Olivaia Restaurant where guests can enjoy a meal with a typical Mugello dinner.

The cost to attend the May 14 event is € 40 per person, including a copy of the book on Don Milani. For more information, please call us at 055/8490107 or send an email to villa.campestri@villacampestri.it
