Campestri is a magical place for our family. A place where history and nature come together in one great beauty.
We are talking about Vicchio in Mugello, in the heart of Tuscany, where Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort is located.
At Villa Campestri our family care passionately centuries-old olive trees in order to obtain an excellent oil and hosts tourists from all over the world making them feel at home.
But the story of Villa Campestri in Vicchio is even older and is closely linked to the territory, the land and people.
Villa Campestri Vicchio in Mugello
To get the first traces of human settlements in Campestri in Mugello you have to take a dip into the past until you get back to Etruscan times.
The testimonies of the Etruscan presence in Campestri can still be seen today. Close to Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort is the famous Etruscan settlement at Poggio Colla, where excavations conducted by Gregory Warden and Michael Thomas have brought to light ancient testimonies.
Campestri and the origins of the Villa
Villa Campestri has a very ancient history made of a succession of noble and powerful families who owned and inhabited it over the centuries.
The first historical evidence of the Villa dates back to the thirteenth century, when Rota da Campestri sells all his possessions to the archbishopric of Florence.
Born as a fortress built for defense purposes, over the centuries the Villa has been painted by famous artists such as Lorenzo Bicci.
In 1446 the Holy Archbishop of Florence Antonino went to the Villa to consecrate the chapel of San Romolo a Campestri.
During the pastoral visit Sant’Antonino planted in front of the Church of San Romolo a Campestri a cypress.
Today this cypress is still in Campestri, has a base circumference of 6 meters and a height of 15 meters.
It is part of the Tuscan monumental trees and is the oldest of the Mugello tree.
Villa Campestri: past and present
Paolo Pasquali bought Villa Campestri in 1989 by the noble Florentine family Roti Michelozzi that held the property of the Villa and the surrounding farms for 700 years.
With the renovation by the Pasquali family Villa has retained its charm until today.
The precious architectural and structural elements have been maintained and with a careful and meticulous restoration of the original materials the Villa still has her striking beauty.

At Villa Campestri many centuries-old olive trees surround the landscape, giving a magical beauty to the rolling hills of Tuscany.
The olive grove extends for 7 hectares, and olives are carefully picked by hand as once, and olives are worked to the mill of our company on the day of collection.
Villa Campestri OliveToLive
From the passion of Paolo Pasquali and his love for the land and for olive was born OliveToLive project, creating a revolutionary system for storing oil and capillary raise awareness to the culture of oil.
The system OliveToLive patented by Paolo Pasquali is used to preserve the organoleptic characteristics of the oil through the use of nitrogen and temperature control.
Fresh olive oil as straight from the mill every day on our table, and on the one of the Restaurant L’Olivaia that will delight the palate of our guests.

At L’Olivaia Restaurant in Villa Campestri Olive Oil meets a genuine and refined cuisine, made with the freshest raw materials and combined with taste by our chef.
