Easter at Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort in Mugello: history, art and nature

If you are looking for a destination to spend your Easter holidays in Tuscany, Mugello is the ideal: spring awakens nature of our hills and offers breathtaking landscapes able to refresh the spirit and give you peace and relaxation.
If you like hystorical events, you cannot miss “Lo Scoppio del Carro“, the outbreak of the wagon that every year, Easter Day, is celebrated in Florence: The Big Wagon, dating from the eighteenth century is pulled by cows to the square of the Duomo, from where the dove is intended to set him on fire. If the Wagon breaks then it says that there will be a good year for agriculture.

For nature lovers in April reopen the WWF Gabbianello Lake State Park, which allows you to take guided tours to discover the many species of birds in the area.

But if you’re a sport lover and want to keep in shape you can try our challenging hills through the mountain-bike that can be hired from us.

Art lovers can take the opportunity to visit not only Florence, which is about 40 minutes drive from us, but also fun to discover the many hidden beauties of Mugello from the Convent of Bosco ai Frati in San Piero a Sieve, to the Medici Castles, from the House of Giotto, with the exhibition fo painter Rontini from April 16 to the House of Bronzino.

Easter is also an excellent time to sample some of our typical dishes such as fried lamb with artichokes and ravioli stuffed eith ricotta cheese and our scented herbs.

This year Villa Campestri Olive Oil Resort decided to dedicate a special offer for Easter called “Easter and 150 years of Italy in a drop of oil” that also celebrates the unification of Italy: you should not miss it!
