Best Apps For Travelers in Tuscany 2015

It’s no secret that we are utilizing our phones more than ever to help plan our trip, and to access information while we are away in this vibrant, technology filled world. While most people come to Tuscany (we hope) to turn off from busy work schedules, there are many apps that are quite useful for getting around Tuscany. This is our list of best apps for your next trip, VillaCampestri approved.

1. Yelp

A community app based on user reviews, we find Yelp to be a bit more interesting in variety when it comes to options around Italy, even better than Tripadvisor. This is also because users can rate stores, hair salons and you can read the translations in your own language (web only). Many younger locals use this app and in places like Florence, the community is quite active and vibrant.

2. Firenzecard

Well-known in Florence as a card giving you 72 hours of access to local museums, many people might not know that there is also a cool app to go with it. Inside, you will find a map of included locations, along with useful info about each museum and different artworks. Information is updated in real-time which is quite nice, plus we appreciated that they included where the card is sold as well as various WiFi spots around the city.

3. Inferno App

You might be thinking, who would name an app ‘hell’ on purpose? Well if you know anything about Florence, you will know that Dante’s Inferno novel was written in this city, and recently they have been working on a film of Dan Brown’s Inferno book which has been quite exciting for us locals. The Inferno app includes a map of different locations mentioned in the book, plus info about scenes and history of the city.

4. Musement

Musement is an online platform for activities, tours, attractions, museums, shows and art events around the world offering hundreds of attractions like priority or skip-the-line access to the Colosseum in Rome, Florence’s Uffizi, Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the Louvre and Eiffel Tower in Paris and many more. They have just created an app that offers one-click booking, no printing needed, something we truly can appreciate. It definitely is useful for your next trip to Italy.

5. Menu Translate

Finally, someone has done the very brilliant thing of creating an app dedicated to translating menu items from around the world. This way you will be able to read a Tuscan menu no problem, by browsing the extensive dictionary.  The iphone app with the biggest list of Italian foods translated into English.
