The Torre di Capo d’Uomo is a coastal tower located in Monte Argentario, 350 meters above sea level. This hidden gem is located along the Tuscan coast and offers spectacular cliffs overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is a paradise for climbers thanks to its breathtaking environment. Positioned between the Maremma Natural Park and the Tuscan Archipelago Park, it offers a perfect combination of natural beauty and sporting opportunities. The tower dominates the sea and the western part of the Argentario, halfway between Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole.
At Capo d’Uomo, on the Argentario, you can do a lot: climb majestic cliffs, relax on the splendid beaches and discover underwater treasures.
Thanks to the mild climate, the Argentario can be visited all year round and is perfect for lovers of the sea, relaxation, nature and trekking.
The trails on foot, by bike and on horseback are numerous and unforgettable.
Currently, the remains of the Torre di Capo d’Uomo are clearly visible and dominate the panoramic road along the western coast of the Argentario promontory, even from afar.
The tower still retains the shoe-shaped base with a quadrangular plan, together with the fragments of the external stone walls that characterized the upper part.
In the surroundings there are also the remains of an adjacent building, whose original functions are not yet fully known.
The beach at Capo d’Uomo offers a unique experience for climbing and nature lovers.
Located just below a wonderful cliff equipped for climbing and next to the ruins of the ancient watchtower, it offers a suggestive atmosphere.
But it’s not just the climbing that makes it special: once you pass the Cape, a perfect sheltered natural swimming pool opens up before you.
Unfortunately, only one boat can enter it and whoever arrives first has the opportunity to enjoy this show.
The surrounding cove is equally fascinating, with crystal clear waters that vary from blue to azure, evoking the colors of Sardinian or tropical seas.
The sheer rock walls and the emerging rocks create a suggestive panorama. The rocky bottom reaches a depth of about 5 meters, but starts from a few centimeters, making it ideal for those who want to snorkel or try freediving.
Capo d’Uomo is a splendid cliff located in an enchanting place: its wonderful colors blend with the sky, making this place unforgettable.
The cliff of Capo d’Uomo is composed of a majestic vertical wall of white and gray limestone with drops, holes and concretions, offering continuous and technical climbing.
In the 1990s, Roman and local climbers equipped the area, but over time the bolting has been affected by the corrosive effect of the sea.
The re-equipment with stainless steel material was carried out thanks to the commitment of the Valtellinese Alpine Guide Eraldo Meraldi, who worked with great patience to enhance this splendid cliff.
Now, the cliff of Capo d’Uomo all’Argentario has become one of the most beautiful cliffs overlooking the sea in Italy, even if in the past it was unjustly forgotten.
