Fun December Events Around Tuscany

Temperatures have dropped in our beloved corner of Tuscany and we are very excited for the upcoming holidays. So far sunny days have been abundant and as always – there are plenty of occasions for celebration. As we continue to work hard in our slow-season (Villa Campestri reopens next March), please enjoy these posts which will help any stay in Tuscany be a little more unique thanks to our local tips.

Florence

German Market in Piazza Santa Croce, Dec 2-28th.

One of our favorite Christmas markets comes back to Florence this December with a fun German-themed market in one of the principal squares of the city. Here you can buy typical products like fuzzy slippers and scented soaps, and a few unique items like cheddar cheese. There is plenty to eat and drink, including German hot dogs and mulled wine. Open from morning till late (around 9-10pm).

Mugello

Borgo San Lorenzo: Christmas Market, Borgo San Lorenzo, December 4-12th, there will be a traditional Christmas market where you can find decorations, food and gift ideas.

Vicchio: In the center of Vicchio there will be a special Christmas market on:
– December 6th special market;
– December 8th Food Xmas market and lighting of Christmas tree;
– December 13th celebrations dedicated to local sport associations;
– December 20th Christmas market;

Marradi: The lovely town of Marradi will celebrate Christmas for two Sundays with food galore, decorations and many ornaments. Expect to see Marionettes, puppets, gospel choirs and bubbles, and Santa’s home.

Palazzuolo: Christmas decorations, nativity scenes, and various curiosities. Siena Area

Festa dell’Olio, Extra-Virgin Olive Oil Festival, December 5th – 8th. 

Try new Olive Oils in the small town of San Quirico, in the province of Siena.

Vin Santo Festival, December 5th-8th in Montefollonico. 

Try the dessert wine that is famous in Tuscany ‘Vin Santo’ in a charming hidden town in the province of Siena, Montefollonico.

Santa Claus Village in Montepulciano,  November 21 – January 6 in Montepulciano.

Lucca

Taste Market until the 8th of December (every weekend), “Il Desco – Sapori e Saperi Lucchesi”.

You can buy local food products, wine, and check out special exhibits, all at the Real Collegio from 10-7:30pm. website

Pisa

Santa Clause Village, December 4th to 8th, Pisa, La Fabbrica di Babbo Natale.

Take the kids to the city of Pisa to check out a really interesting Santa Clausa home from 10am-8pm.
