A luxury Italian Villa in Vicchio del Mugello, Florence
Hotel Villa Campestri
occupies an enviable position on the hillside immediately surrounding
Florence.
The 13th century building, originally erected as fortified structure,
complete with impressive watchtowers, was owned for nearly 700
years by the noble Florentine family Roti Michelozzi.
In 1430, the property was enlarged and converted in manor house.
Italian renaissance architecture provided the inspiration for
the extensive restyling carried out in the late 19th century.
The ornate façade of the villa and the exquisite stained glass
windows which adorn the chapel, a number of the guest rooms,
and what is now the hotel restaurant were all added in the early
20th century.
Guest bedrooms and suites, situated in the villa and in the
adjoining buildings which once served as farmhouse and dairy,
are all exquisitely decorated with articles of antique furniture
and further embellished with prints and paintings dating back
to the 1800's. Each room enjoys charming views across the park.
